The video above takes you on a walking tour of downtown Grapevine, Texas — a small city of about 50,000 people sitting right between Dallas and Fort Worth. If you've never been, it's one of those places that surprises you with how much is packed into a pretty compact historic Main Street. David Bridwell stopped through on his way to a gig in nearby Keller and spent some time exploring the area for the first time, checking out the restaurants, wine tasting rooms, and live music spots that line the strip.

What Makes Downtown Grapevine Worth a Visit

The heart of Grapevine is its historic downtown district — a walkable stretch of Main Street filled with restored older buildings, galleries, shops, and a serious number of wine tasting rooms. There's real history here too. You'll find statues commemorating the spot where Sam Houston met with leaders of ten Indian nations to negotiate a treaty of peace, friendship, and commerce. Murals throughout the area tell more of that story.

One of the standout attractions is the Grapevine Vintage Railroad, which runs 1920s-era Victorian coaches from downtown Grapevine to the Fort Worth Stockyards. Right next to the railroad departure point is the Grapevine Main building, which looks historic on the outside but houses a food court and hotel inside. The whole area has a family-friendly, tourist-ready feel — especially since DFW Airport is right there. You can fly in, walk the strip, hop on that old train to the Stockyards, and drink your way through a dozen wine rooms without needing a car.

Where Can You Find Live Music in Grapevine, Texas?

A lot of the restaurants and wineries along Main Street feature live music regularly. Here are some of the spots called out in the video:

  • Talbot's — A well-known live music venue with a big stage that hosts full bands. Also famous for its chili, tied to Frank X. Tolbert, who founded the Terlingua Championship Chili Cook-Off. There's a mural outside celebrating that connection. Go for the music, stay for the bowl of red.
  • Sloan & Williams Winery — A winery along the Main Street strip that regularly books live music acts.
  • Willhoite's Restaurant — A longtime Grapevine staple with a strong live music calendar.
  • Chill Bar and Grill — A casual spot on the strip that features live performers.
  • Bull Lion Ranch Winery — Another winery in the mix that hosts music alongside tastings.
  • Farina's Winery and Cafe — Combines wine with food and occasional live entertainment.
  • Napoli's Italian Kitchen and Market — An Italian restaurant that also gets in on the live music action along Main Street.

A Quick Detour to Keller

Just a short drive from Grapevine, the town of Keller is where David Bridwell played a gig at Blue Line Winery — an intimate venue where he performed to a lively crowd inside the tasting room. It's the kind of smaller spot that makes touring through the DFW suburbs worth it, and a good reminder that live music in Texas isn't limited to the big cities. Places like Grapevine and Keller have real things going on if you know where to look.
